Personal Statement:
Ali is an adjunct professor at the Washington College of Law at American University, where he teaches a clinical seminar on human rights litigation. An associate with Carr Maloney, Ali enjoys handling a range of legal matters, including employment and labor law, business law and commercial litigation, complex litigation, and toxic and mass torts.

Ali has litigated cases involving product liability claims, RICO conspiracy, real estate fraud and insurance coverage. He has represented international aid organizations facing claims in U.S. courts for torts committed in foreign jurisdictions, state governments facing civil penalties for breach of contract, and property managers in insurance coverage matters. Ali also supervised U.S. litigation involving a suit brought under the Alien Torts Claims Act and Federal Tort Claims Act for violations of international and U.S. law in foreign nations.

In law school, Ali took a special interest in civil rights and labor law, which led to a position as a clerk to the law school dean in his role as executive secretary of the Organization of American States. Originally from New York, Ali started his practice as a public defender for the State of New Mexico, defending clients in criminal matters ranging from juvenile violations to capital felonies. Ali also received an Equal Justice Foundation Fellowship for an appellate attorney position for the State of New Mexico, where he practiced before the Court of Appeals. He received tremendous experience handling dozens of difficult and complex jury and bench trials, and later he worked with the D.C. law firm of Collier Shannon Scott in its litigation and environmental practice groups, assisting the firm with complex litigation cases in state and federal courts all over the United States.

Ali is fluent in Spanish and Arabic, which enables him to assist clients who have international interests.
