Personal Statement:
Andrew Morris litigates complex commercial matters, particularly disputes involving financial reporting, securities, and corporate governance. His matters include government investigations, enforcement actions, and parallel proceedings. Recent engagements include defending accounting firms against fraud and malpractice claims, representing banks in various disputes, representing clients in government investigations, defending entities and individuals in securities and consumer class actions, representing clients in matters brought by financial regulatory agencies, and handling other disputes involving topics such as corporate governance and government contracts. His clients have included major public corporations and their officers and directors, financial institutions, major accounting firms, and other entities and individuals. He also writes regularly on professional liability, securities, evidence, and other litigation topics. Andy’s writing is cited regularly by courts and commentators in cases involving professional liability and complex financial litigation.
Andy has tried cases before courts in various states as well as before administrative tribunals and arbitrators, and has argued federal and state appeals. He has represented clients in internal investigations, before administrative agencies, and in grand jury proceedings. Andy has written many briefs and papers for trial and appellate courts. He has also represented pro bono clients at every level of court and in administrative forums.
Before joining Carr Maloney in 2009, Andy was a partner with a national law firm. He also has served with the US Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility, where he investigated allegations against prosecutors, and was Associate Independent Counsel under the Ethics in Government Act (H.U.D. Cases), where he investigated and prosecuted cases involving housing and financing programs. He served as law clerk to the Honorable Max Rosenn of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (1985-1986). Andy also is a Certified Public Accountant.
