Joseph Spoerl is a litigation associate focusing his practice on employment and labor law, complex litigation, and civil rights. He has experience in cases involving claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADEA, FLSA, and other federal, state, and local laws. His clients include public and private companies, as well as non-profit organizations. He regularly practices in state and federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and has experience handling matters pending before the EEOC and federal, state and local agencies.
Prior to joining Carr Maloney, Joseph specialized in representing Gay and Transgender employees regarding claims of discrimination in the workplace, as well as victims of sexual harassment.
Joseph graduated from the George Washington University School of law, where he was a student attorney with both Law Students in Court, as well as the Public Justice Advocacy legal clinics. While attending law school he worked for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, and was a Judicial Intern for Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee, United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. Joseph also argued in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria, where he received an award for best oral advocate.
