About
Ashley Norton concentrates her practice on employment law, professional liability, and construction defect cases. Whether developing case strategies or drafting substantive motions, civil litigation documents and appellate briefs, she consistently delivers a high level of service to her clients.
Prior to joining Carr Maloney, Ashley drafted appellate briefs in the Court of Special Appeals and litigated personal injury, estate planning, guardianship, conservatorship, landlord-tenant, and other civil litigation proceedings as an Associate Attorney at Cohen & Hertz, P.C.
Ashley graduated cum laude from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. In addition to her duties as Senior Student Articles Editor for the Journal of Contemporary Health Law & Policy, she published “The Captive Mind: Antipsychotics as Chemical Restraint in Juvenile Detention,” a discussion of the juvenile system, related case law and the potential legal implications of the increased use of antipsychotics in vulnerable juvenile populations. A Faculty Merit and Alumni Scholarship Recipient, she competed in both the Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial Competition and the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny Mock Trial Competition.
Following law school, Ashley was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Richard E. Jordan, Associate Judge in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. Assisting in all aspects of Circuit Court duties, she drafted court orders and opinions for civil, family, CINA, juvenile and criminal cases, and drafted extensive memoranda on post-conviction proceedings, complex criminal case motions, administrative appeals, family exceptions, in banc reviews and complex civil cases.
