Michael Reese from The Hanover Insurance Group in a presentation titled, “The Duty to Disclose – An Examination of an Accountant’s Duty (if any) to Disclose Information Learned During the Course of Professional Services.” This presentation will look at when an accountant may have a duty to disclose fraudulent or illegal activity of a client that is learned during the course of professional services. Are there any such situations? Is disclosure required to legal authorities or other third parties? And can a financial professional’s knowledge of such activity create a conflict situation? The presentation will examine a few different situations and operate as a discussion format among the panelists.
